ROAD TRIPPING : USA WEST COAST

There are no words to describe how much fun we had on our last family road trip. Great music, amazing landscapes and the best company!

I wanted to share our 14-day itinerary in case you are planning a trip of your own, or if you want to travel through pictures… HERE WE GO!

DAY 1 : LOS ANGELES

On our first day we took it easy. My family and I were meeting again after months apart, and we were all coming from different cities.  So we decided to spend a relaxed morning  strolling by Santa Monica’s Pier, a classic LA postcard:

The icing of the cake for such a perfect first day of holidays was the delicious Argentinian asado grilled at my cousin’s:

DAY 2: LOS ANGELES

We began our day like Hollywood stars in Beverly Hills, where we did some window shopping over the famous Rodeo Drive. I’m sure you’ve seen this street in films such as Pretty Woman and it was very fancy of course…

Afterwards we drove to Hollywood and the Walk of Fame, where we compared our feet against Jane Fonda’s 😉 An hour was enough to explore this part of the city, and it was in fact perfect to be on time for our Warner Bros Studio visit. I must admit I was a bit sceptical about it, but in the end it was amazing! We hopped on a golf cart and travelled around this mini city, where got to see filming sets from our favourite tv shows (e.g Friends, of course!) and learnt more about film production. The tour lasted 3 hours but we enjoyed it so much that time flew!

Here we are at the Lalaland set:

And we visited Central Perk too !!

We watched the sunset at the unique Venice Beach, surrounded by street performers and surfers. An unforgettable experience!

DAY 3: FLAGSTAFF

A driving day towards the Grand Canyon. There wasn’t much to see on the way, so take some good music for the long trip and maybe some snacks like we did 😉

DAY 4: GRAND CANYON

We had done a bit of research regarding what entrance would be best, and we would definitely recommend the East Rim entrance. It’s not only less crowded but also you get to see the Desert view that otherwise you wouldn’t. Once you arrive at the visitor’s center there are free Shuttles to take you through the park, which we found very convenient and eco friendly! We spent the whole day exploring the gorgeous national park and stopping at the viewing points:

DAY 5: PAGE

This was one of my favourite days. I know, Page? Maybe you are not familiar with it, but it’s absolutely stunning. First of all, the Horseshoe Bend and then the Antelope Canyon. Two absolute must-sees for a west coast trip. Both are absolutely breath-taking and different to everything I had ever seen. Have a look yourself!

This is the Horseshoe Bend:

DAY 6 AND 7: LAS VEGAS

Even though one day would be enough to get a taste of the magestic Las Vegas, we decided to stay a day longer to go to the outlet stores and weren’t disappointed 🙂 We spent the first night walking around the different hotels and attractions on the Strip and the second one watching street performances at the Fremont St.

DAY 8 : DEATH VALLEY

We drove from Las Vegas through Death Valley while making some stops on the way, but honestly I would have stayed longer: it’s so beautiful there! The countless landscapes are a delight to the eyes… and we only saw just a tiny part of it. Our highlights were the Salt Flats and Zabriskie Point. Next time we will make sure to spend some time at the Sand Dunes !

DAY 9: ROUTE 395 : MAMMOTH LAKES, MONO LAKE, LAKE TAHOE

A very scenic route fulled with spectacular views. For example Mammoth Lakes, a little sky town where we made our first stop:

Then we continued north till Lake Tahoe. Our original plan was to drive to Yosemite, but as we made our trip during April, the road was still closed for winter. I guess we’ll have to come back 🙂

DAY 10 AND 11 : SAN FRANCISCO

My favourite city on this trip! My top spots to visit were:

-The vista points around the Golden Gate bridge, especially the one going up the hill

-The Golden Gate park (it’s HUGE!)

-Lombard Street

DAY 12 AND 13:  PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY

The longest state route in California with amazing postcards on its way. This is where we made stops:

Carmel by the Sea, a fancy and elegant little town:

BLOSSOMS IN VIENNA

Hello, hello dear readers!

I’m back from the holidays with lots of energy (and jet lag!). I won’t deny I wanted to stay in California, but when I saw the Cherry Blossom trees in full bloom my heart jumped with joy!  Continue reading “BLOSSOMS IN VIENNA”

BEAUTIFUL VIENNA COURTYARDS

“What shouldn’t I miss on my visit to Vienna?” That is one of the most frequent questions I get asked by friends and family who come here on holidays. Actually, Vienna has so much to offer, and caters for so many tastes, that I always find it hard to comprise everything to fit a day or two! Even though the most popular attractions are the Schönbrunn and Stephen’s Cathedral, personally what I always recommend is taking some time to wander around the old little streets of the Innere Stadt (First District). PÖTZLEINSDORFER SCHLOSS PARK

Hello everyone! So where did my camera and I went this time? To Pötzleinsdorfer Schloss Park. In case you are wondering where it is because you´ve never been there, it´s in the 18th District of Vienna. I got there by tramway (end of the 41 line). This beautiful park has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere you will love! Continue reading “PÖTZLEINSDORFER SCHLOSS PARK”
