Ever since I saw a picture of Hallstatt I couldn´t stop dreaming of exploring and photographing this lovely little town. In case you´ve never heard of it, let me introduce Hallstatt to you:

Little did I know that one weekend -when we were supposed to drive back from Graz to Vienna- we would finally end up in Hallstatt. On the road we went through every weather you could imagine.. from this:

As we got nearer to our destination, our enthusiasm grew more and more until we finally got THE VIEW:

We only had a few hours to visit the town, so we had to get going before the sun went down! We walked slowly though the little streets and by the Hallstatter Lake, admiring the beauty of the antique houses and getting some close ups:

Before we noticed it, we were already in the historical Market Square, which dates back to the 14 th Century even though most of the houses were built later in the 17 th Century:

Tip: Don’t miss to climb up the Maria Hilf church in order to get some great views from the town, the lake and have a look at the beautiful cementery:

To sum up, this is a wonderful place to visit and maybe roam around for a day or two, just relaxing at the lake and enjoying some great views. There are even hiking options for the summer, so I can´t wait to come back!

Finally, on our way back to Vienna we spotted another little town which was called Traunsee and made a stop:

What a day full of incredible landscapes!
